Our Beliefs

CAMP MANITOUMI’S
DOCTRINAL STATEMENT

We believe the Bible, consisting of the sixty-six books of the Old and New Testaments, to be the inspired Word of God. It is our standard by which we live our lives. 2 Tim. 3:16; II Pet. 1:19-21.

We believe there is one living and true God, who exists in three persons: the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. Matt. 28:19-20

We believe that Jesus Christ became a man, born of a virgin, so that He could become the only sufficient sacrifice for man’s sinful condition. Christ died on the cross and rose again the third day that we might have eternal life. John 3:16; Rom. 3:24, 25

We believe that faith in Christ’s death, burial, and resurrection is the only means of salvation. Eph. 2:8, 9; Romans 10:9, 10, 13

We believe that once a person has truly accepted Christ as their Savior that they have eternal life and they cannot lose it. John 10:28-29; Rom. 8:38, 39

We believe that the Holy Spirit is a divine person; equal with God the Father and God the Son of the same nature. We believe the Holy Spirit equips believers for service by giving them spiritual gifts. Some gifts listed in the New Testament were sign gifts temporarily given during the infancy of the church and are no longer given today since we have the completed scriptures. Among the sign gifts were healing; speaking in tongues and working miracles. Rom 12:1-8; 1 Cor 12-14; Eph 4:1-16; Hebrews 2:4

We believe that a person should be baptized by immersion following salvation. This is an act which identifies us with Christ but has no saving merit. We believe that baptism and communion are local church ordinances and should be practiced by the local church meeting together as such. Matt 28:19, 20; Acts 2:41, 42

We believe the Lord will one day return for all believers and that we will meet Him in the air. This will take place before the seven years of Tribulation and the millennial reign of Christ. 1 Thes. 4:13-18; 1 Cor. 15:42-44, 51-54

We believe creation took place in six literal days as stated in Genesis 1-3. Gen. 1:1; Col. 1:16, 17

We believe that the marriage of one man to one woman is the plan of God and sacred in His sight. We believe it is totally against the command and teaching of the Word of God to in any way change or pervert this order; that homosexuality, lesbianism, or any other sexual relationship outside of marriage is contrary to the Word of God. Genesis 2:18-25; Romans 1:18-32.

We believe that human gender has been established by our Creator in fixed, binary categories: male and female (Gen. 1:27: Matt. 19:4). This arrangement reflects the Creator’s wise and intentional design. Acts that violate these gender distinctions are “[abominable] to the Lord” (Deut. 22:5), unrighteous (1 Cor. 6:9), contrary to nature (1 Cor. 11:14,15). Ultimate fulfillment cannot be found in personal autonomy or self-actualization. Rather, it is found through self-denial (Matt. 16:24-26), dying to sin (Rom. 6:8-11), and submitting one’s life to Christ (John 14:21-24; 2 Cor. 10:5).
